Colorado town, Hayden, has got a big gap to fill in its treasury. They are hoping that the revenue from outside sales of marijuana can help them get out of their current financial situation.

GreenWay Colorado Colorado Town to Fill Treasury with Pot RevenueA special election held last Tuesday had voters approving an ordinance that would open the town for marijuana growing operations. The final results were tallied to be 52.4% approved marijuana cultivation within the town limits, with a gap of about 20 voters.

Back in August, the Hayden Town Council voted to allow growing facilities to sell cannabis products, as long as it was outside Hayden. Hayden still does not allow distribution of either recreational or medical cannabis within the town.

With their current action, officials of Hayden are hoping that the revenue to be collected from growing will be enough to buy their town some more time to fill their treasury. If the effort proves to not be enough, Hayden expects to exhaust all their funds by the end of 2017.
