In 2012, Colorado voted and approved on possession of small amounts of marijuana for recreational use. Now, Kansas Attorney General, Derek Schmidt is trying to gather data, that Colorado-purchased cannabis is being transported and distributed into kansas.

To investigate this knowledge further, Schmidt has sent out survey forms to the law enforcement and district attorneys of Colorado. According to him, there have been several accounts of marijuana transported to Kansa from Colorado. Since it is still illegal in Kansas to distribute and possess marijuana, he wants to know if the Colorado Marijuana Program has been harming them.

The result of the survey will be made public after collation and validation later this year to substantially know what the current situation is and so lawmakers can enforce their regulations to the community.

Though it is still an illegal substance under federal law, those laws are not enforced in Colorado due to their marijuana program. But according to Attorney General Schmidt, if it is proven to be causing harm to neighboring states, federal laws against illegal substances can still be enforced in Colorado.
